CPS City Wide Virtual Art Show

May 20, 2021

Cincinnati Public Schools visual arts students and teachers recently created the 2020-21 CPS City Wide Virtual Art Show. More than 207 artworks were entered into this juried exhibition from 39 schools across the district.

The City Wide Art Exhibit has a long tradition dating back to the early 1970s when it began at the Cincinnati Gas and Electric Company. Now displayed at the Hamilton County Public Library, each Cincinnati Public School art teacher is encouraged to submit four exemplary artworks created by their students during the present school year.

The show represents four grade level groups, K-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12. Each art work submitted is entered into a media category. There are eight media categories including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, crafts and graphic design.

The students' work is judged by artists, art educators and other professionals related to the field of art. The work is judged for its originality, unique presentation or use of materials and the skill demonstrated in creating the artwork.

Each student receives a certificate and blue ribbon for having their work chosen to hang in the display. Special awards are presented to gold seal winners and best of show winners in each age division. These awards are presented at an evening ceremony at the Board of Education on an evening in May.
